A cleaner neighbourhood begins with people coming together.
On 18 September 2026, Jimbaran Hijau brought together 142 participants from local businesses, hospitality partners, community groups and diplomatic representatives for the Community Clean-Up Drive Karangmas, a collaborative environmental initiative along Jalan Karangmas, Kuta Selatan, Bali.
Starting at 8.00 WITA from Jimbaran Hub, the clean-up brought employees, neighbouring communities and strategic partners together to take practical action for a cleaner and healthier environment.
By the end of the morning, the group had collected 138 kilograms of waste from the surrounding area.
142 People, One Shared Responsibility
The Community Clean-Up Drive Karangmas brought together participants from across the Jimbaran community, demonstrating how environmental responsibility can connect different organisations and sectors.
Participants included representatives from Raffles Bali, Greenwoods, AbiBali, Royal Tulip, Jimbaran Green Hill, Padel Club Indonesia, Vivara, Ayana, Lenusa, Social Bread, Jobseeker and Locca Sea House, alongside representatives from the Honorary Consulate of the Slovak Republic and the Consulate General of the United States of America.
The participation of such a diverse group reflects the collaborative spirit at the heart of Jimbaran Hijau’s approach to sustainability.
“Seeing our neighbours and partners come together this morning is a powerful reminder that a clean environment is a shared asset,” said Cheryl Marella, Corporate Communications Sr. Manager of Jimbaran Hijau.
“The 138 kilograms of waste collected is significant, but for us, the number also represents something bigger: the impact that consistent, collective action can have. Small actions, when carried out together and repeatedly, can contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment for everyone.”
From Individual Action to Collective Impact
Keeping an area clean is an ongoing responsibility. While a single clean-up may create an immediate visible difference, its greater value lies in building a culture where people feel responsible for the environment around them.
For Jimbaran Hijau, the Community Clean-Up Drive Karangmas forms part of its ongoing CSR and sustainability initiatives, designed to encourage participation and collaboration among the communities and organisations connected to the area.
“Collaboration is at the heart of what we do,” said Lydia Natalia, Head of Business Services at Jimbaran Hijau.
“This initiative is fully aligned with the vision of Jimbaran Hijau, which places care for nature and community at the centre of how we develop the area. When we work together, we strengthen the connections that make this destination special.”
The initiative also reflects a broader responsibility shared by businesses operating within Bali’s tourism ecosystem. A healthy environment is fundamental to the long-term wellbeing of communities and the continued appeal of Bali as a destination.
Building a Culture of Environmental Responsibility
For Dr. Putu Agung Prianta, B.Eng(Hons.), MA, MH, Founder and CEO of Jimbaran Hijau, environmental responsibility needs to become part of the culture of a destination.
“Community action is the foundation for creating a destination and integrated township that truly serves nature and the community,” he said.
“We are building a culture of responsibility and pride through actions such as this community clean-up. We are grateful to all our partners and neighbours for their dedication to this shared purpose.”
The Community Clean-Up Drive Karangmas is part of Jimbaran Hijau’s ongoing effort to encourage greater awareness, participation and ownership of the environment around Jimbaran Hijau and its surrounding communities.
A Cleaner Karangmas, A Stronger Community
The 138 kilograms of waste collected during the clean-up represents a tangible result, but the morning’s impact extends beyond the amount gathered.
It brought people who live, work and operate in the area together around a common goal: keeping Karangmas and its surrounding environment clean.
From hospitality businesses and recreational facilities to community groups and diplomatic representatives, the initiative demonstrated the role that collaboration can play in creating meaningful local impact.
Jimbaran Hijau believes that the future of a sustainable destination depends on this shared sense of responsibility. By continuing to work with its neighbours, partners and wider community, the goal is to support a cleaner, healthier and more connected Jimbaran.
138 kilograms collected. 142 people involved. One community working together for a cleaner Bali.
And this is one more step in an ongoing journey.
